Project “Activization of small and medium-sized businesses in the border regions of Ukraine-Belarus”

Project “SME activation in the cross-border regions of Ukraine-Belarus” in frames of Eastern Partnership Territorial Cooperation Programme Belarus-Ukraine started its implemenation in October 2017.

Partner-countries: Ukraine

Project period: 2017-2018 (14 months).

General objective:

To increase commercial opportunities, business activity and interaction of  SMEs in small towns of cross-border region Ukraine – Belarus by creation of platforms for interaction between SMEs, Local self-government bodies  and Business support infrastructure structures of cross-border regions of Ukraine and Belarus.

Aims  of the project:

1. Providing SME with professional consulting and advisory support on marketing, legal, financial and economic aspects in running cross-border business.

2. Creating/extending the capability for obtaining important, timely and relevant information to make business decisions through the Internet portal of cross-border cooperation.

3. Developing of potential and professional skills, as well as making personal contacts with SME representatives in cross-border regions.

4. Accomplishing changes in the policy of local authorities on the issue of support of cross-border trade in  small towns of cross-border areas.

 April 24, 2018 the second cross-sectoral meeting of partners in trade and services was held in frames of the project “SME activation in the cross-border regions of Ukraine-Belarus” funded by the European Union through German Society for International Cooperation.
The aim of the meeting was establishing a constructive and transparent dialogue between business of Ukraine and Belarus. Representatives of business from the Republic of Belarus (Gomel, Rogachev, Zhlobin) and Ukraine (Kiev, Priluki, Chernigov, Varash, Repki, Mykhailo-Kotsyubinsky, Slavutich) took part in the meeting. Belarusian Trade and Economics University of Consumer Cooperatives was represented by the institutional project coordinator Dean of Faculty of Qualification Improvement and Personnel Retraining, PhD in Economics, associate professor Trusevich I.V. and assistant of institutional project coordinator, associate professor of the Department of Global and National Economics, Yatsevich N.V.
During the meeting Trusevich I.V. made a report “Aspects of entrepreneurship development in the Republic of Belarus”. Business representatives had the opportunity to communicate with each other in B2B format, as well as, to visit some enterprises of Slavutich.
There will be 3 more cross-sectoral meetings devoted to agriculture, transport and communal services, as well as IT technologies in frames of the project.

 March 24, 2018 a working meeting of the project Steering committee members was held. During the meeting the results of the first cross-sectoral meeting were discussed, organizational issues of preparation of the report by experts, organization of focus group by Belarusian partners, preparation of the second cross-sectoral meeting on trade and services were resolved.
As well, participants of the event took part in the conference on light industry “Chernigov Textile Fest”, organized by Chernigov Chamber of Commerce and Industry on March 23, 2018.

 March 14, 2018 a working meeting of partners of project “SME activation in the cross-border regions of Ukraine-Belarus” implemented in frames of Eastern Partnership Territorial Cooperation Programme Belarus-Ukraine and funded by the European Union through German Society for International Cooperation was held at Belarusian Trade and Economics University of Consumer Cooperatives.
The meeting was attended by representatives of Ukraine including project coordinator, the first deputy chairman of Executive committee of Slavutich City Council Shevchenko V.V., as well as representatives of Chernigov Chamber of Commerce and Industry, business support centers of Slavutych and Priluki. Belarusian side was represented by project experts and business representatives of Rogachev and Gomel.
During the meeting participants discussed issues related to project implementation related to establishment of target groups and holding the first cross-sectoral meeting in Chernigov in which representatives of small business in production sphere from partner countries of the project take part. Project coordinator from BTEU is the dean of Faculty of Qualification Improvement and Personnel Retraining, PhD in Economics, associate professor Trusevich I.V.
